5x5's

Here are the 5x5 poems I received from people, thank you for writing them! I have really enjoyed reading them. Feel free to write more :)

My voice is broken, cracked,
from the illness I suffer.
Inflicted by my own doing,
I sit, hoarse and tired.
Tomorrow will bring my health.

-Ben Brown

For quite some time now
My brain has gone away
Never coming when most needed
Tears, pain, fear; never understanding
I hope this can change
-Halla Walton

My life is going great.
When I am with God.
The tears have all dried.
I’m no longer broken inside.
I find Joy in Jesus.

-Katy Latham

Working extremely hard all night
Time diminishes out of sight
I grow tired and lose fight
It gets out of hand
Now I’m a better man
-Dalton Briley

All women are abstract art
Two pieces aren’t the same
Man can look at one
And see the beautiful sun
While another sees undoubting rain
-Bryan Mabe

Day breaks new opportunities arise.
I surrender; seeking and searching.
To find beauty in rain.
To give my all today.
Night falls with no regret
-Scott Chase

Our skin is paper-thin
and yet stronger than steel.
What an overused paradox that
we are made to understand
but can’t seem to grasp.

-Cindy Lusk

The weight; much to bear.
Yet set my pride aside.
When all seems quite unfair.
You’ll leave these ropes untied.
Together stay until we’ve died

-Dennis Swartout

Went to the coast today,
Asked the Spirit come too!
To our surprise He showed,
Our torn hearts were healed,
So glad we went there.

-Deanna Stanton

5x5's (Paul's Daily Poems)

Paul Halupa, one of my all-time favourite teachers once gave me a task to help me become better at songwriting/poetry. The task was simple. Every day I had to write a small "five-by-five" which is a form of poetry I believe he made up.
The only rules are these:

Each poem must be 5 lines total
Each line must have 5 words

It's not that hard of a thing to write, and for the month that I wrote them, I found that I ended up writing something I would describe as a "poetic diary-tweet."

So here's my challenge.

I'm not asking that you write one every day. (that would be awesome). I just want to get a glimpse of a day in the life from you.
Please do this, I love poems, and these will be even better because they will be from the folks I care about. (which is you!)

Just type em up and send them to me, either Facebook, email, Twitter, or comment it on here, and after awhile I'll post them on here!

Here's my first one from today, Oct 19

I rely on the rain.
It brings the sky down
to my plain, so strange
that water is like me.
We never can be still

Three, Twelve, and 24

 By: Christian Brown

A temple, a tree, a veil,
One raised, one nailed, one torn.

A Son, a Death, a Life,
refused, reclaimed, reborn.

This bread, this cup, this Man,
He broke, He poured, He sent

Body, water, spirit
spent, spent, spent.
